Serving St. John Since 1996
Our Mission
St. John Rescue is an all volunteer organization dedicated to saving lives, providing community education, and building a better way of life for the people of St. John.

Our Story
St. John Rescue, a non-profit organization, was incorporated on November 30, 1996 after several volunteers met monthly under a tree for a year following Hurricane Marilyn in 1995. We are an all-volunteer organization on the small island of St. John, in the U.S. Virgin Islands, dedicated to providing emergency rescue and medical support services to local EMS, Police, Fire, National Park, and Health Clinic personnel. After Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, St. John took the lead in coordinating the many emergency response agencies that arrived on island and conducted an island-wide search to find residents who needed help.
Our New Headquarters
From those early meetings under a tree in Cruz Bay, and through several temporary locations, St. John Rescue had not had a permanent home for 23 years. Prior to Hurricanes Irma and Maria, the V.I. Housing Finance Authority provided an initial grant to purchase land on Gifft Hill and a second grant provided funding for a new headquarters building. This was completed in the early fall of 2020.

Our building has a training room to host community trainings, it is fully solar, with a large back-up generator, so that we can be fully operational in case of an emergency. We also house the island's only oxygen generator for medical use.
Join Us and Become a Member
St. John Rescue welcomes all types of community support. Whether your interest lay in hands-on responding services, education, or you want to help with fundraising and outreach activities, there is a place for you at St. John Rescue.
RESPONDING MEMBERS
Responding Members have no set commitment to a required number of hours per month of active, on-site duty. We do require, to maintain a professional organization that can serve the community of St. John with pride, that our responding members meet minimal training certifications and maintain continual education credits. This allows our volunteers to commit without the fear of being on twenty-four hour call. Any amount of time you can give can make a difference in our community.
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers may become Responding Members or Supporting Members. Active Responding Members participate in all operational aspects of emergency service delivery. Supporting members support the organization in other ways, including vehicle and building maintenance, fundraising, and community outreach.
SUPPORTING MEMBERS
Supporting Members may commit as much time as they are able. This additional support will provide our Responding Members with more time to focus on training, responding, and preparing for emergencies. Supporting Members can help in a number of areas, from fundraising to community outreach.

How to Donate
We are an all-volunteer organization dedicated to saving lives and building a better community through participation, education, and community spirit.
We operate thanks to the generosity of our community. There are many ways you can help our organization provide quality emergency and support services to the island of St John; become a member, volunteer time and expertise, donate equipment, or make a monetary donation. To help in anyway, contact St. John Rescue.

St. John Rescue members are all volunteers. Both corporate and private donations are welcome. We regularly hold fundraising events on St. John. Many of our members pay for much of their own equipment, uniforms, and transportation out of their own pockets.
